Ipod not showing up on mac itunes

iPod does not connect to iTunes

If your iOS devices fails to sync with iTunes, the Sync button is greyed out and not available at all, or if you try to sync and nothing transfers over to the iPhone, iPod, or iPad, you may simply need to authorize the computer with iTunes. To do this, hold down the Power button and Home button simultaneously until the device restarts.

With wireless syncing, be sure that both the iOS device and the computer are on the same wireless network. It will not work if they are not joined to the same network. If you recently update your computer system to Windows 8 or Windows 10 and found that iTunes no longer detected your iPod Touch or iPhone, update drivers could be a good way to slove this issue. Still having problems? Why not use third-party tool to sync files from your iPhone, iPad or iPod to computer or iTunes?

How to fix iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod iPhone

In "My Computer" it shows up as the drive that it's inserted in, and every time I attempt to acess it a prompt comes up that asks me to format the drive. I just got the IPod recently, but there are a few songs on it, and I would really prefer not to format it.

What to do When iTunes Won’t Detect an iPhone, iPad, or iPod

What can I do in order to keep my music? I've tried the IPod on other computers, and it registers on those, but on my own it does not show. Also, I can't get the latest version of Itunes to install. Every time I attempt to do so a prompt says that it is not a 'valid Win32 file'.

But how will I sync my iPod?

What can I do about that? I was really looking forward to using my IPod, but if I can't use Itunes in conjunction, then what's the point?

In windows it sometimes helps to remap the network, not sure with Mac. Hope this helps a little, good luck. I successfully replaced the battery on the iPod. However, it still does not connect to iTunes nor does it show up in Disk Utility.

It does charge when connected to the MacBook. Could it be the dock connection? Gary, I have had lots of ipod video's with all kinds of errors and ailments but seriously never had a problem with the dock connection. Check your dock connector for any damage.

I have one here where the pins of the connector are loose and stick up a bit. If I carefully plug it in, It works fine, if not I normally get the same issue as you, charges but wont detect in iTunes. If it appears damaged, you will want to find someone to replace it since it requires special tools to remove and replace the connector. Help Translate iFixit. Back Answers Index.
